Zefiro Meets Research: A New Collaboration with Politecnico's PhD Students

Team Zefiro launches a collaboration with Politecnico di Torino PhD students: technical seminars, practical tasks and continuous knowledge exchange. First session on Linux and GitHub.

A New Synergy

Team Zefiro has launched a structured collaboration with a group of PhD students from the Polytechnic University of Turin, fostering an ongoing exchange between academic research and applied engineering.

The idea is simple yet powerful: PhD students provide the team with technical support and refresher seminars on advanced software and technologies, while the Zefiro team contributes practical tasks, some of which could become actual thesis topics, and shares their discoveries regarding tools, numerical methods, and new technologies.

A collaboration where everyone learns from everyone.

The First Seminar: Linux and GitHub

First Seminar led by PhD Student Riccardo Fornari

First Seminar led by PhD Student Riccardo Fornari

Today we held our first meeting, dedicated to two fundamental tools for modern technical work:

  • Linux — the operating system underlying most engineering development and simulation environments
  • GitHub — an essential platform for code management, collaboration, and version control
  • Mastering these tools means working more efficiently, organized, and collaboratively on all our projects, from aerodynamic simulation to the development of the VESPA avionics.

    Why this collaboration is important

The world of research and that of student teams often move in parallel, without meeting. This initiative breaks down that barrier: doctoral students bring methodological rigor and specialized skills, while Zefiro brings real-world problems, enthusiasm, and a practical vision of engineering.

The seminars will be recorded for those unable to attend, but physical attendance remains the best way to ask questions, clarify doubts, and build a direct relationship with those sharing their experience.

    This is just the beginning.
